Programming

​The VASA Project in an online media studies platform connecting individuals and communities on a global scale who have interest in media studies, photography, digital media arts, and sound.

To meet its vision, the VASA Project supports online media-related workshops; gallery talks by artist, critics, historians, and theoreticians; curated exhibitions; an e-bookstore; "Transmedia" the VASA Project blog, and other media-related blog projects and discussion groups.

The VASA Project is based upon the union of two familiar environments: the traditional workshop model and networked digital media technology.

 

  • Overall responsibility for the planning and delivery of an integrated online exhibition programme from September 2013 to September 2017;

  • Curate online exhibitions and projects; lead on the selection and online presentation of exhibitions and projects;

  • Negotiate “image usage for online exhibition purpose” with photographers, museums and galleries and private collectors;

  • Write and oversee the commissioning of texts, exhibition-related material and information, as appropriate.

Administration, Finances & Operations

 

The Mews Project was established in 2009 as an artist-run space based in Whitechapel. It has delivered over 40 exhibitions and events since it's beginning, as well as collaborated with various cultural agents and institutions. The space operates as a cultural hub and a platform for projects and collaborations. Since 2011, each year's programme focuses on a particular premise or commission, which is intended to operate autonomously from each other. The Mews Project also produces limited editions and publications by artists who have exhibited at the space.

 

  • ​ Work in partnership with the directors/artists to lead on and administratively deliver the artists project space' exhibitions and events programme within scheduling, operational and budgetary constrains;

  • Manage the organisation's finances: bookkeeping; payments; management accounts; cashflow statements and forecasts; setting budgets in consultation with the Directors; budget monitoring and control; update and monitor the organisation's business plan, together with long-term budget forecasts and plans for growth; monitor income, expenditure, programme and grant activities to ensure records were up-to date to justify the organisation's funding and sponsoring​;

  • Identify and implement improvements to operations (administration, communications and development);

  • Research potential new income streams and business partnership opportunities; draw up funding applications to trusts, foundations and the private sector;

  • Act as Company Secretary and ensure all relevant reporting and returns to Companies House and Commissions were submitted on time.

  • Finances and Administration: Co-operative secretary | prepare agendas and reports for Directors meeting | take minutes | keep Directors aware of relevant development between meetings | identify matters of legal concern | oversee financal issues, such as income, provisions, accruals and other end-of-year figures | bank account | documents filling and archiving | principal point of contact with embassies, sponsors and art and cultural institutions;

  • Communications: create and implement internal systems for communication and information, such as Clouds, Google+, and external platforms, such as commission of a new website development and launch, e-newsletter, Facebook;

  • Exhibitions: 2012's exhibitions programme (curated by Lindsay Jarvis) with Alex Lawler, David Ben White, Tomoaki Suzuki, Tomas Downes, Christopher Kulendran Thomas, Ian Law, Juliette Bonneviot, Magali Reus, Marte Eknæs, Harm Van Den Dorpel, Josh Kolbo, Peles Empire | Sara & André and several works that the The Mews team was able to get from Gavin Turk's Shop with Gavin Turk´s Agreement;

  • Events: Artists' Books Weekend.

​The Triennial consists of an alternative cultural route/circuit of site specific art works, residencies, conferences and exhibits in historical houses, wineries, vineyards and other venues in distinctive wine' regions from Portugal.

​A 4 columns project:

  •  Design of a site specific and other exhibits.

  • Design of a program/circuit of visits of variable duration.

  • A cycle of events and conferences.

  • Digital products and services.

Programming, Finances & Operations

 

Until January 2012, Viewfinder Photography Gallery presented itself as a photography gallery that provided a unique opportu​nity for emerging photographers to exhibit, regardless of previous experience or educational background. Viewfinder engaged the local community throughout exhibitions, workshops and events.
Between the first exhibition, in November 2005, and the most recent, in January 2012, Viewfinder has delivered 65+ photography-based exhibitions to provoke and expand image making and discussion and 70+ workshops and events, including an outreach series, to engage the community. In May 2011, Viewfinder closed its physical gallery space and began an exciting programme of pop-up exhibitions and events across London.
Presently, Viewfinder brings a hand-picked selection of top exhibitions and events.

 

  • ​Independently plan, programme, promote, supervise as well as organisationally and budget-controlling implementation of a photography programme of activities;

  • Management and assembly of project-specific production team of volunteers;

  • Publish and production of publications and communication via digital media;

  • Develop and manage the Charity website, and members area, to optimize the organization online presence and coordinate internal communication to Trustees, Supporters and Volunteers.

Encontros de Fotografia
1997 - 2001 Exhibitions and Festival Manager​​

Operations

​For over than 20 years, since 1980, the Encontros de Fotografia were the most important photography festival held annually, in Portugal. It attracted more than 100.000 visitors per festival; incorporated several exhibitions and urban functional spaces spread out across the city of Coimbra and neighboring towns.

  • Work as part of the management team to operationally implement the strategic direction of the Encontros' programme of exhibitions and activities;

  • Ensure the management and performance of the exhibitions team as a whole operated at the highest level;

  • Deliver photography exhibitions, large and small, and the major photography festival | work collaboratively with curators and photographers | Personal Assistance to the Director.
